17th Annual Challenge Trophy Camporee!!

ScoutmasterEXTENDED Deadline! 17th Challenge Trophy Camporee (CTC) will be held October 16 – 18, 2015

 Camp Babcock-Hovey, 7294 County Road 132, Ovid, NY near beautiful Seneca Lake!

The program of the CTC consists of Team Building Events, Educational Events, Fun events, Crafts, Displays, Campfire, Scout’s Own, Demolition Drag Derby (3D), Subcamp Chariot Race, Camp Site Inspection, etc. In 2013 we offered over 500 events on the Event Cards.

Hi Scouts,

If you still need to pick up your wreath sale packet, you can pick them up from Mr. Madison's house. They are located on the front porch in a green tub.  Look for the one with your name on it and take that one only.  

September Campout!

September Hiking Campout!   

And our first campout of the year is September 25, 26, 27.  We will be going to Camp Barton (tenting) which is down in the Ithaca area and are planning on hiking to some of the great waterfalls around that area.  It is a beautiful area located on Cayuga lake.

Canal Path Clean Up: 
September - Silver Wolverines and American Crocodiles
October - Bushwhackers
Village Flags:
(Labor Day) Monday September 7th, 2015 - Blue Robots
(Columbus Day) Monday October 12th, 2015 - Hawks
(Veterans Day) Wednesday November 11th, 2015 - Bushwhackers
Canal Path Clean-up. 
Our troop has adopted a section of the Canal Path.  The section of the Canal Path that we have adopted is represented on the following map:
New York State has provided guidelines for how adoptees are to follow.  Here is the link to their guidelines. http://www.canals.ny.gov/trails/adopt.html
Village Flags
We have been performing this service project successfully for years.  For us to continue to be successful, each patrol assigned shall follow these steps:
1.       Choose a patrol member or parent to pick up the key to the Village hall before the holiday date.
2.       The patrol will meet at the Village hall (yellow building before bridge) at 7:00am to raise the flags
3.       Collect the flags and utility bag from the basement of the Village hall
4.       Line main street intersection with the flags according to the map contained in the utility bag.
5.       Return excess flags and utility bag back to the Village hall.
6.       Lock the door and hang onto the key for the evening.
1.       Meet at the Village hall at 7:00pm
2.       Collect the utility bag from the Village hall
3.       Take down the flags and replace the caps in the holes that line the Pittsford intersection
4.       Return the flags and the utility bag to the village hall basement.
5.       Lock the Village hall door
6.       return the key by placing it in the mail slot of the village hall.

Memorial for Jack Driskell

Dear Troop,

Jack Driskell, one of our Scouting brothers passed away this week at the age of 23.  Jack is an Eagle scout and was a member of our troop from about 2002 untiil 2010.  His brother Michael was also a member of our troop and earned his Eagle Scout award and his mother Lorna, was an activie contributor to our troop serving on the committee.

Visitation is today from 1:00pm until 5:00pm at the Miller Funeral Home at 3325 Winton Road South near Jefferson Road.  If you would like to show your support for the Driskell family, I'm sure they would appreciated it. 

The funeral for Jack is tomorrow, (Monday) 9:30am at St. Charles Boromeo Church, 3003 Dewey Ave. His internment will be in the Holy Seplecure Cemetary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to the Pittsford Volunteer Ambulance or to the Boy Scouts of America.

Class B Troop Shirts & Fleeces Still Available!

Mrs. Waldman is still taking orders for Class B "All-Weather" shirts and colder weather Troop Fleeces!

If you haven't seen the Class B shirts, they are fantastic for Spring, Summer, and Fall weather.  Made of moisture reflecting material, they are very lightweight and comfortable!
For the scouts who just joined the troop, please consider placing an order for the Class B shirt for camp. Your scout will certainly use them!
Class B Shirts are $15,   Fleece and Micro Fleece are $35.
